SUMMER CAMP 2008

Rotary Youth Exchange Program Finland
District 1430

Welcome to an adventurous summer camp in North Karelia, Finland 27.7. – 10.8.2008

Participants spend the first period in Finnish host families around North Karelia to get familiar with the Finnish way of life. Second period is primarily spent at the Niittylahti college in Pyhäselkä municipality, which is located 15 km south from the city of Joensuu.

There are a lot of unique outdoor activities in the camp program. Participants are taught problem based learning, which includes hands-on training solving problems in the wilderness. In another words, at this camp, you will not find yourself sitting in the lecture halls.

Finnish nature is very special and exotic all year round. In the summer, the forests express overwhelming greenness accompanies by other intensive colours. Thus, North Karelia provides an excellent possibility to enjoy the silence and relaxing atmosphere after daytime activities.

More information concerning the camp will be promoted at the homepages of the Joensuu Eteläinen Rotary Club (http://www.joetrotary.fi).

The participants will need good walking shoes, warm clothes, rainwear, light rucksack, swimming suit, other personal equipment and a curious, open mind.

Participants are advised to take care of their own travel insurance.
